If you are on the hunt for a practical housewarming gift idea, or a cozy one, this gift combines elements of both all packaged up into a cabinet organizer. The cabinet organizer is a practical alternative to a housewarming basket.
Moving into a new home is an exciting time. A thoughtful housewarming gift can make settling in easier and more enjoyable. I’m sharing everything I used to put this gift together, but feel free to personalize it to your recipient.
Housewarming Gift Supplies:
Here are all the supplies you’ll need along with links to recreate this exact gift:
- The Home Edit Cabinet Organizer: This is the centerpiece and “basket” of your gift. A stylish and functional organizer helps your friends maximize their cabinet space while keeping everything easily accessible and organized.
- Extra Storage Organizer bin – I used one extra organizer to fill with items and tuck behind the blanket in the gift.

- Kitchen Towels: A set of absorbent kitchen towels adds a practical touch to the gift, perfect for everyday use. If you’re unsure of what color they like, choose neutral colors.
- Wine: A bottle of wine is always a welcome addition, ideal for toasting to new beginnings.
- Goo Gone: Perfect for removing stickers from new home items.
- Candle: A scented candle can help create a cozy atmosphere in their new home.
- Faux Plant: Add a touch of greenery without the maintenance. A faux plant brightens up any space and makes it feel more like home. You can, of course, include a real plant instead.
- Blanket: a cozy throw blanket warms up any space visually and literally!
- Measuring Tape – this will be useful when measuring spaces for new furniture, decor, etc.
- Command Hooks– there is always that spot that benefits from command hooks. Having a few already on hand will make settling in and getting organized even easier.
- Scrub Mommy– household essentials are so useful to have on hand.
- Mr. Clean Magic Erasers – there are so many uses for these. We had a few scuff marks on walls after moving everything in and the Magic Erasers took those off easily.
- Luxury Laundry Detergent: Help them keep their new home smelling fresh with high-quality detergent. I love the Tyler Candle Company scents especially Diva. Even just adding a splash of this detergent to laundry makes everything smell so good. Perfect for that new throw blanket. They can also mix up some linen spray in the spray bottle with some of this detergent and water to freshen each room with cozy homey scents.
- 9 volt batteries – these are useful to have on hand for smoke detectors. They always seem to beep for low batteries in the middle of the night – is it just mine? They will be prepared to replace them on the spot and will thank you later for this one!
- Cardstock for printing the wine label – I used this cream colored card stock to match the aesthetic but you could use white or even regular paper

- Cream and gold ribbon to add a bow accent. You could also use ribbon to connect the two pieces of the cabinet organizer.
- Skeleton Key: I used this skeleton key as a gift accent.
The Following Items Were From Dollar Tree:
- Spray bottle – for homemade sprays
- Crazy Glue – sometimes items get broken in the move, this will be ready to repair as things are unpacked.
- Plant mister – once they are settled into their new home and add real plants, this cute plant mister will come in handy. There is also an even nicer, similar looking plant mister available at Walmart.
