Looking for a fun and unique sweet treat or party favor? Try adding cotton candy to a waffle cone! Start with a waffle cone, dip the top edge in candy chocolate melts and sprinkles. Hide some candy inside the cone – I used Nerd clusters. Then add scoops of cotton candy on top. Add a lollipop as the literal cherry on top!
Supplies For These Cotton Candy Waffle Cones
Here is everything you’ll need to recreate this sweet treat:
- Waffle Cones
- Candy Melts, I used white
- About a teaspoon of shortening (optional) to make the candy melts melt smoother
- Sprinkles – customize this treat with sprinkles that match the theme of your event
- Cotton Candy to state the obvious
- Dum Dum lollipops or other pink or red sphere shaped lollipops
- Nerd clusters or other small candy to hide underneath the cotton candy
- Cone shaped treat bags
- Ribbons to attach to the top
- Ice cream scooper to shape your cotton candy “ice cream” but if you don’t have them, you can shape the scoops easily without
- Tape – I used tape to fold the bottom of the treat bag up.
Directions For Making These Cotton Candy Waffle Cones:
Follow these steps to prepare this cute but easy sweet treat :
Note: Some cotton candy shrinks over time so this is best to do as close to serving/gifting as possible.
- Pour sprinkles into a shallow bowl
- Melt candy melts in a bowl (can add a little shortening to make the melts more smooth and dip-able)
- Dip (or ice) the top edge of the waffle cones in the melted candy melts
- Immediately dip them into the sprinkles
- Allow to harden – lay them so the chocolate isn’t resting on anything that it will stick to
- Once the top edge is hardened, fill the bottom of the waffle cones with Nerd clusters or other candy
- Add scoops of cotton candy on top
- Place a lollipop in the top resembling a cherry
- Slip the cotton candy waffle cone into a cone shaped treat bag.
- If the tip of the cone doesn’t reach the bottom of the treat bag, you can fold the bottom point of the treat bag up and secure in the back with tape.
- Add ribbon or bows to the top and your cotton candy waffle cones are ready to be served or gifted.
