Teacher appreciation week is a fantastic opportunity to show gratitude to the dedicated educators in our lives. They work tirelessly to nurture, inspire, and shape the future of our children.
Having an older child creates the possibility of several teachers to get gifts for which increases the need for inexpensive options. If you’re looking for a heartfelt yet budget-friendly way to express your appreciation, consider this DIY gift idea: individually packaged bundt cakes with optional small gift card added!
If you like the look of this gift, you can modify it for so many other occasions including party favors, thank you gifts, bake sale items, or wedding favors.

Supplies to Re-create this DIY Teacher Appreciation Gift:
Here is everything you’ll need for this gift. (Click bold underlined items to shop paid links):
- Mini Bundt Cakes: Purchasing a dozen mini Bundt cakes typically brings the cost per cake down. I got mine from Nothing Bundt Cakes since it’s a little further from the teachers so more of a special treat they don’t always get to enjoy. Alternatively you could pick cupcakes from your local bakery or a store that offers them.
- Clear Cupcake Boxes: I purchase these in a bulk package of 50 because I use them for multiple occasions, see my boho cupcakes or pink lemonade cupcakes. They also come in a smaller pack of 10.
- Ribbon: the boxes come with a ribbon included but I just saved that ribbon for later because these teacher deserve more color and cuteness! I used this classic blue gingham ribbon. You will need about 18-20 inches per gift if you are tying a simple knot. I bought my ribbon at Walmart but if you want to order ribbon to arrive with the cupcake boxes, here are some similar cute options:
- Scissors
- Lighter – optional. I used a lighter to carefully seal the cut ends of the ribbon so they wouldn’t fray
- Gift Cards (Optional): Consider including a $5 gift card to your teachers favorite place. I included a Dunkin gift card so they could purchase a coffee to go with their Bundt cake.
- Cardstock or paper for printing the gift tags
- 2 Inch Circle Punch: to cut out tags, but you can cut them out with scissors
Cost Breakdown Per Gift:
Without Adding a Gift Card: Approximately $5 per gift – half of that for each mini Bundt cake and half for packaging and embellishments). A low budget but cute teacher appreciation gift!
-With Gift Card: If you add a $5 gift card like I did, obviously you’ll now be at approximately $10 per gift. Depending on your budget, you can adjust the amount of your gift cards.

Steps to Create These Teacher Appreciation Gifts:
- Remove clear film from the cupcake boxes and assemble them
- Add the Bundt cake and close the box
- Tie ribbon of choice around the box. I just did a simple double knot. It’s easier than creating a bow, conserves ribbon (keeping this lower cost) and I think it looks just as cute if not cuter!
- Print the free printable tags using the highest quality print setting
- Either cut out the tag with scissors or using the circle punch. I love my circle punch and have used it for years to create gift tags
- If adding a gift card, tuck it under the bow.
- Attach the gift tag with tape or other adhesive

A Thoughtful Gesture
This semi-homemade gift idea is not only budget-friendly but also customizable. You can choose flavors that you know your teachers will love, and the personal touches with the ribbons and tags will make them feel cherished. If you have time, tuck a personal note from you and/or your child to express your gratitude.
Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week in this simple yet meaningful way can make a significant impact. It shows that you value their hard work and dedication, and it’s an easy way to bring a smile to their day. This gift idea is not only reserved for teachers, you can modify it for all types of occasions by skipping the gift tag. It would be the cutest party favor or small gift.
