It’s cold and flu season and I put together some get well care packages so that they are ready to drop off to sick friends or family members. I’m sharing the idea to spread some love this winter.
Obviously you don’t need to go quite to this extent, any soup delivery will be much appreciated. I’ll just be adding homemade, store or restaurant soup to the jars depending on how busy I am when these care packages are needed.
Here are all the details in case you want to steal this exact idea.
Supplies For These DIY Get Well Care Packages
- Pretty mason jars – I am obsessed with these mason jars! You can always use a different container that you have on hand. If you plan to use another 32 ounce mason jar, just know that only the more square mason jars fit the carrier and it’s a tight fit.
- Paper to go cups – I picked mine up at Homegoods. They are My Mind’s Eye brand. They make the cutest cups!
- Mini honey packs – perfect for cough suppressant and sore throats
- Cough drops
- Ribbon
- Sprig of faux floral or add fresh when you deliver
- Cardstock or paper to print tags on
- Printer
- Mini clothespins to attach tags (optional)
- Hot glue or other adhesive to attach bows
Instructions for Putting This DIY Care Package Together
- Print the tags and cut out
- Assemble the drink carriers
- Wash the jars
- Fill to go cups with tissue pack, tea bags and honey
- It may be best to wait to add cough drops since they will flavor everything in the cup
- Add everything to the drink carrier and attach a bow
- Once you’re ready to deliver your care package just add soup!
- IMPORTANT!! It is best to carry the drink carrier holding the bottom if you fill the jar with soup. I learned this the hard way. It looks so cute in the carrier though, so I still think it’s worth using it.
Your loved ones will appreciate the thought and care you put into whatever care package you create. It is sure to brighten their day and make them feel loved.
