DIY Lemon Themed Individual Cupcake Boxes

Individually packaging cupcakes serves multiple purposes. They are great for favors, gifting, bake sales, taking cupcakes to the beach, and the list goes on.

Recently I brought pink lemonade cupcakes to a beach girls night. Having individual cupcake containers for each person kept the sand away and made it easy for sending home the extras. See this post for all the details on how I made the cupcakes.

Steps to Recreate these DIY Cupcake Boxes

Step One: Dry lemon slices

To have a brighter yellow look, only partially dry the lemon slices. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F. Put a wire baking rack in a sheet pan. Slice the lemons using a sharp knife or mandolin. Place lemon slices on the baking rack and bake for one hour. Flip the lemon slices and bake for another hour. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.

Step Two: Assemble boxes

These boxes have a clear wrap on them so if they look cloud, this is why. Remove the clear wrap and assemble them.

Step Three: Place cupcakes into decorative cupcake liners.

Place cupcakes in cupcake liners (if not already lined) and put them into the clear boxes.

Step Four: Frost and decorate cupcakes (if not already done)

If you aren’t using the recommended tall cupcake liners, it may be difficult to place them in the box once frosted.

Step Five: Tie ribbon.

Tie the ribbon around the box. Ribbon with wired edges are much easier to manipulate.

Step Six: Add lemon slices

String the lemon slices on yellow and white bakers twine. Attach under the ribbon using a glue dot.

Step Seven: Add greens and optional personalization

I personalized my cupcake boxes with names. To do this, first use a paint pen to write names or a message on the leaves.

I harvested my leaves from a plant at my home. You could pick up some faux leaves at a craft store or real from your yard or local florist. Any sort of green will add to the aesthetic. Attach the leaves with a glue dot.
