Looking for a quick and easy Halloween DIY Decoration? This fun and easy DIY Light-Up Ghost Garland is it! Inspired by the viral Pottery Barn ghost wreath, this craft project is perfect for adding a spooky glow to your home.

DIY Ghost Garland Supplies:
Here is everything I used to create the DIY ghost garland. (Click affiliate links in bold to shop.)
- Paper Lantern Light-up Garland
- 3 AA batteries
- Cheesecloth – 2 packs
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Material for ghost eyes. You can use black felt, Cricut vinyl, or paper. I printed mine on cardstock and cut them out. Here is the free printable if you want to do the same.
Other Items on the Mantle
In case you like the look of the other items on the mantle, here are the shopping links:
- Orange String Lights – I added a set to the mantle and on the wood in my fireplace since it’s still to warm to start a fire
- Black Gauze – adding this gauze behind the ghost garland really makes them pop
- Bat Garland – unfortunately the one I used is no longer available but here is a similar looking one on Amazon.

DIY Ghost Garland Instructions:
- Cut the cheesecloth. My cheesecloth was 36” wide. I cut it 18” long giving me a 36”x18” rectangle.
- Fold the cheesecloth in fourths widthwise and in half lengthwise so that it is 9” x 9”
- I found it easiest to hang my garland on my mantle before making the ghosts.
- Wrap the cheesecloth around each lantern to form a ghost shape. Secure in the back with a dab or two of hot glue.
- Add Eyes: Cut out eyes from felt or paper and glue them onto the front of each ghost.
- Add batteries to the battery pack, turn on the lights and your DIY ghost garland is complete!

Happy Spooky Season!
This DIY light-up ghost garland is a simple and inexpensive way to decorate for Halloween. Happy crafting! 🎃👻
