Boho themed cupcakes are perfect for a boho birthday party, boho shower, boho wedding, or (what I made them for) a boho peach picnic. I’m sharing all the details of how you can make these boho themed cupcakes from cupcake liners to the individual packaging and boho cupcake decorations. If you are looking for a creative way to package your cupcakes, this is a cute one!

Boho Cupcakes
You can make things easy and purchase cupcakes from your favorite bakery. I tend to make things more difficult on myself so – I baked my own. I don’t know why, but carrot cake felt more boho than a typical cupcake to me. I used this Carrot Cake Cupcake recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction site and they were an absolute HIT! So delicious! I’ve had several requests to make them again so I highly recommend.
Boho Cupcake Liners
To make them extra pretty, I baked the cupcakes in these pink parchment baking cups. Something about them just screamed boho cupcake liner to me. If you get your cupcakes from a bakery, you can just carefully pop them into one of these light pink liners for an instant elevated boho look.
After baking them, I placed them in a second cupcake liner for an extra layer. The liner is tall enough that you don’t get your fingers as messy when placing the cupcakes into the cupcake box. If you choose to use shorter cupcake liners, I recommend icing the cupcake AFTER you place it in the box.
Boho Cupcake Packaging
When I was on the lookout for beach friendly desserts, I was thinking something individually packaged would be easier. There is less risk for getting sand in them when they are packaged individually. Individually packaged cupcakes aren’t reserved for just beach desserts though. They are also great for bake sales, weddings, gifts or boho party favors. I used these cupcake boxes from Amazon:

Boho Paper Palm Fronds
Paper palm fronds scream boho so I definitely wanted to use them to decorate the cupcake boxes. I originally planned to order these paper palm fronds off of Etsy to decorate my cupcakes. I didn’t have enough time for them to arrive before our boho beach picnic, so I made the fronds myself.
Here is how I made the paper palm fronds myself: I used kraft paper wrapping paper. If you have unbleached parchment paper on hand, that would probably work just as well. I cut the paper in this shape:
If you want to use my exact sizing, just print this out and trace it onto your kraft paper.
After you cut out your shape, you can start folding. Starting at the bottom, fold your paper accordion style all the way up to the point. Then fold the whole thing in half and glue, tape or staple together. I used a glue stick for some but preferred glue dots. A video is worth a thousand words so here is a video short of the entire boho cupcake box assembly.
You could add the mini boho paper palm frond to a toothpick and just put the pick into the cupcake. I am weird about paper touching my icing especially not knowing if it was food safe paper so chose to put it on the cupcake box instead of in the cupcake.
Boho Paper Flowers
The boho flower accent was simply a paper flower. If you want to use the exact ones I did, you can order them in bulk on amazon or in a pack of 12 from Michaels.
I attached the flower to the front of the paper palm frond using a glue dot then attached that to the top of the box using a glue dot.
Don’t Forget…
One more thing, don’t forget the forks! You could order cute forks to attach to the boxes like these:
Another idea (what I did) is to wrap your forks in a cute boho way to hand out with each individually packaged boho cupcake:
We hope this boho cupcake idea inspires you to make your own and that it makes your boho event that much more special. My friends freaked out when they saw how cute they were and I know yours will too. If you make your own, please share pics on social media and tag us so we can see!
