Nutella Filled Puff Pastry Shapes

Ingredients
  

  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry dough sheets
  • 10 ounces Nutella or other hazelnut spread with cocoa
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • decorating icing

Method
 

  1. Thaw puff pastry according to package instructions
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  3. Line baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease
  4. Roll each sheet puff pastry out to approximately 11x13 inch rectangle
  5. Spread Nutella over one sheet of pastry
  6. Add other sheet of puff pastry to the top
  7. Using cookie cutters, cut out shapes
  8. Place shapes onto parchment lined baking sheet
  9. Whisk egg and brush the tops of cutouts
  10. Bake for 14-18 minutes or until golden brown IMPORTANT NOTE: Check cutouts during baking to make sure they stay sandwiched together. Occasionally the puffing causes them to separate. Use tongs to place them back together and smoosh together a little.
  11. Allow cutouts to cool
  12. Decorate with icing of choice
  13. Dust with powdered sugar
